Mary Carbery Morrow

Mary Carbery (Dede) Boyle Morrow passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 16, 2022, at 97 years. The daughter of Norman Bruce and Ethel Franklin Boyle, she was born and raised in Westminster, MD. She attended St. Johns School and earned degrees from Georgetown Visitation College in Washington, D.C. , The Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing and the Johns Hopkins University (B.A. 1950). She worked as head nurse at The Johns Hopkins Hospital Wilmer Eye Institute. In 1953, she married Rowland Ashmead Morrow, a lawyer who held multiple federal national intelligence roles. They lived in Guilford and the Mercy Ridge Retirement community. They were married for 57 years, until his death in 2011. Mrs. Morrow served on the Board of the Mother Seton House on Paca Street for more than 35-years. She was a long-time volunteer with the Union Memorial Hospital’s Hospice team and served the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen on the altar society and health ministry for more than 25 years. At Mercy Ridge, she also served the Catholic community, preparing linens for the Chapel to exacting standards for 11 years. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames in MD and the Johns Hopkins Club. She and Rowland were supporters of the Basilica of the Assumption, St Mary’s Seminary, Catholic Charities and the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. She is survived by: • A. Leslie Morrow and Michael Lish and their children, James and Matthew Lish; • (John) Rowland A. Morrow, Jr. and Katherine, nee Harman, and their children, Alexander, Danielle, and Jillian Morrow; • Carbery Morrow and Michel Simon and their children, Lily and Ian Simon. • Numerous beloved friends, nieces and nephews Her son Bruce Boyle Morrow died in 1976. Her funeral mass and celebration of life will be offered on Saturday, March 26 at 10:30 am in the Lady Chapel at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. Interment to follow at the Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
